Are you interested in learning about how scientists can become involved and affect policy? Join Project Bridge and Science in Action from Colorado State University for our Colorado Science Policy Summit on October 3rd, 201910:30am-5:30pm at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus.
You will hear from legislators and scientists currently engaged in policy development to learn about the process of developing bills and where and when and how scientists can get involved. You will leave the summit with a tool set of actionable advocacy steps you can utilize to be more engaged. The day will end with a networking opportunity to interact with other policy minded scientists and your representatives. Make sure to register and take advantage of this valuable opportunity to engage and develop your science policy tool set.

10-12 Legislative Engagement Workshop:
Understanding and Engaging Colorado Legislature: In this workshop, we will review Colorado’s legislative process, and use several case studies to roleplay conversations with legislators. Our emphasis will be on identifying stakeholder values, framing an argument, and using time effectively.

1-2:45 Advocacy Round Table
Early-Career Scientist Round Table: During this session, early-career scientists will convene for a guided discussion of their current goals, projects, and challenges. We will discuss our collective experiences to determine best practices, share resources and create more impactful plans for our organizations
3-4:30 Legislative Case Study Panel
Engage CO state legislators to discuss how we can better integrate science and policy at structural levels. Moderated by George Sparks, CEO of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
